Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: First look inside Wasps New Elite Performance and Innovation Centre Complex« on: August 23, 2021, 11:02:24 AM »
Looking at the pics the main structural change from what was there before seems to be a floor has been inserted into the old sports hall to create the gym below and rooms above.
Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Wasps to 'review policies' after ban plea for 'novelty Native American headdress« on: August 22, 2021, 10:13:28 AM »
Iím not convinced this is genuinely a Wasps viewpoint and instead it is more a response to an open letter from The Wasps Report Twitter account.
Despite the good intentions, Iím not sure itís a reflection of Wasps fans in general and IMO opens a can of worms.
Where does it end? - Should they now lobby Saracens to change their name which is presumably offensive to the Muslim community within the UK given the historic connotations?
Currently there are so many bored people being heavily offended on behalf of people theyíve never met nor had a conversation with.
YesÖthere needs to be some sensitivity here and there. Absolutely.
But if Wasps get involved, itís opening a can of worms.
And then what about White Anglo Saxon Protestants?
The world is becoming hyper sensitive and offended by everything. Itís a very destructive pathway to be following where we all pander to a few outraged people who have too much time on their hands.
If a group of genuine Native Americans were highly offended, I would sit down and listen to everything they had to say and find suitable solutions.
But thatís not the case here.
It is not the name Chiefs that is the problem it is the branding. Ironically the name Saracens might be more problematic but it would be a real issue if their branding incorporated Islamic imagery, but as it doesnít it should be ok.
I donít think Ex have anywhere to go now except to change. Once something like this is identified as an issue to refuse change does take you into very disputed territory especially as the change is just branding not the name.

This is a great signing. A couple of quick thoughts; even if he has been out of sorts the last season or two, second row is a position where the basics of what is needed aren't form dependent unlike say SH or FH. He can do a job simply by being a big lump, off loading etc can be the icing on the cake. Also interesting that a lot of the Wasps' signings have come out the blue meaning that the journos at TRP don't seem to have any current sources at Wasps. Which is fine they obviously depends on sources to do their job but us fans shouldn't be too despondent at the lack of rumours in the future.
Nemo has signed up again. Great news. https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sport/rugby/nizaam-carr-signs-wasps-rugby-20915938

Well played Quins. They played amazingly over the last few months. It ends. 2year season for Exeter which might have caught up with them in the end. It will be very interesting next season when things are a bit more normal to see where all these teams sit. Quins season in many ways mirrored our last season except they did what we couldnít and won. It will be interesting if they can kick on again and be regular contenders.
There are still lots of areas to improve but i do think we have addressed one of our biggest ones with the signing of Hougaard. I rate Porter and Sam W but the biggest drop off in quality from our first choice is at 9. this is especially noticed because as a team we play off the 9. So to have the biggest drop off in probably the most important position is a major weakness. Hougaard will give us a quality back up and starter when Robson is unavailable which will allow us to develop a consistent style.
Of the 10 confirmed leavers I think there are only 3 (Taylor, Brookes and maybe Rowlands) that I think we might miss and one (Si Mac) I would keep for sentimental reasons. But even Taylor and Brookes have had their injury absences and probably are quite costly.
Elliott Stooke has signed. The big lump we have all been wanting. https://www.wasps.co.uk/news/wasps-sign-bath-lock-elliott-stooke/
Strange things are afoot at Ricoh. We are either cutting costs right down knowing that we canít be relegated to save some cash in the short term or optimistically there is something big brewing either in terms of signings or commercially that might lead to signings.
Another thought might this be something to sweeten the fact that Brookes is resigning with us and not Toulon maybe breaking a pre-contract agreement? Wishful thinking maybe but we can all dream.
Well with the naming rights announced there was a big commercial announcement in the offing. Now I expect to see some player announcements: Anthony Watson anyone?
