A W will lift a ton of gloom.
Here is to it.
Shields covering second row might benefit us all...

I have never wished ill on a player but that might change if they win it. The players are complicit, and if they don't suffer for whay amounts to years of cheating there will be a feeling that they have gotten away with it.

Before the start of the season who thought we would be in a relegation scrap?
Genuine question, not trying to have a pop at the more optimistic here.

All of the above makes sense, with the caveat we are not relegated.
Right now it is us or Tigers, maybe Warriors at a push- does anyone here think otherwise right now?

Hopefully in a few months it will be Tigers, Warriors and not us.
There is an tendency here to point to the hysteria of the DW site, whilst they refer to happy clappy nature of this one. The truth lies somewhere in between. Nobody has a monopoly of wisdom, and right now if you said you were a time traveller from the future and told me our not-up-to-the-cap team was going to be relegated I might believe you, some signs are there for sure. Tell me how we are any better than Falcons last year, a fine team by any measure. One good team will go down this year, there are no bad ones.
There will be no win-win for us if we are relegated, so we need to leave no stone unturned to avoid that, and if that means spending then that us what we must do. If Dai asks for it- and we don't have any info- then the board must deliver. So far we know nothing as to what has been asked for, unless anyone has details?

The really galling thing is we have some star names who are not performing whilst some of the younger players are looking good. I think we just need the right run if fixtures, but relegation is a possibility. No team.is too good to go- look at Tigers- quality players abound.

Depends what they do with the Welsh clubs. Four is one too many.
But it is three really, and Dragons, the development club analagous to Connaught over the years in Ire.
Besides from a Welsh coaches' pov, 4 is probably better than 3.

Be careful what you wish for!
There has been an upsurge in good young refs recently.
JP won't be about much longer, me thinks.

A euro league won't work as the celtic nations won't want it, nobody in those countries will bankroll it and it would threaten the health of the celtic and SH nations as the league of sugar daddies suck up all the best NH and SH talent. I can't see WR allowing that, I can't see it being anything other than an Anglo French league of six to eight.
I can't see broadcasters being especially interested, maybe Sky take it. If the rest of the prem stay firm they will win this, as long as Bath, Sale maybe and Bris don't go with Wray he won't get his league.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Bristol sign world class winger
« on: November 27, 2019, 01:02:56 PM »
Bristol's squad is a hotch potch of high end talent and cheaper fayre. The EAs simply don't have the same weaknesses in their squad- their home grown talent is international class, and those credits  they harp on about just don't cover them. I think that Bris can sign at the high end as we could when we signed Willie and had a stellar backline. Superficially it looked sus, but when you dig deeper you can see how it works. The galling thing is the EAs have the top end talent and their players coming through have been nicked internationals like Billy and Singleton, whilst preaching to us about welfare....

Yes, that bloody hyphen gets missed so often, raising my blood pressure.
Great news too.
I would like to see form rewarded where possible.
A tough match is all the more reason to do it.

I am sure there are embarrassed supporters too. It takes a brave person to stick their heads up when their peers are defending the club. The loudest voices will be the ones who are most unreasonable.

How would we be if it were us? The natural inclination is to defend. Most of us say that we would want us to win fair and square, most of us differentiate between fiscal doping and having playing loose with the uncontested scrums, for example. But when you have had lots of success, and the club has built up and sold itself on a bunker mentality, peddling the "something special" (TM)  bull, well I guess it would be hard to give that up and admit it was something rotten, which it was. I am sure there are genuinely bereft Sarries fans aghast at what the sickly, spiv-like Mr Wray has done, and many who are uncomfortable with it but recognise the vast sums he has stumped up. I have to be honest, I don't know how I would react. I would like to think that I would call out the club for this, but part of  me knows that it is easy to buy into the bunker mentality-"no one likes us, we don't care".

I  agree with much of what Hymenoptera says here. I don't see it as a risk to keep a ten who has played well, esp with Lima to cover if needed. If Lima had been setting the backline on fire there would be no debate.
Robson has not been himself of late. I do hope he can recover his former self, I would like to start him but can see the argument that he is not there yet. Tired legs can affect the descision making too.

But they did cover it up, us and Quins stood against that iirc. So to complain now having been complicit in the original cover up is rather off. Still better late than never.

If we can get him signed for a couple, the worst case is that a French club may come knocking down the line. Still a great boost.

Is there a chance he qualifys by residency as English? I am unsure on the rules these days....

Interesting to see the TH selection.
Has Owlett shifted up the order?
Or is it just a game time thing....
