Actually makes Dai sound pissed off.

Of course there could be players already under contract but not available for announcement. Please!

I think it's alluded to that there are a couple of signing that have been completed but not announced, but Dai does sound a bit fed up with the powers that be. That can't be good.

I am hoping that any Leyds deal is completed, that would fit some of the current positional gaps he has called out at Centre, FB and Wing. I would love us to pluck Hammersley out of the Falcons squad but I sense he is a loyal servant and will want to stay there. The article does read as if any incoming players have accommodated what is left in the playing budget. At least we are showing some honesty and transparency, unlike the European Estate Agents of The Year.

I am also expecting to see Umaga, Porter and Oghre promoted as a minimum, Ideally Sirker as well but that may be a year away.

Really disappointed on the coaching front, however can't help feeling Dai plays his cards close to his chest, I am still optimistic that something will be done here.

Now's the time to bring in the youngsters. What about Masi and/or Everard  to join the senior squad? Dai certainly sounds a bit deflated. Well who wouldn't be - he's just been turned down (Friday) by someone who he must have been keen on.

When he says there is no more budget to bring in players, he probably means that he is now at the cap, NOT that Derek won't give him any more money. On the coaching front, Derek has probably said there is no point in getting in just anybody, hence the need for approval before a contract can be offered. And, as we have all been scratching our heads, there is no-one available, and won't be until after the RWC. It is what it is.

Bad, really bad. Dai sounds miffed in that piece. Just the undertones in it, they don't feel right- the way of expressing himself, that is not quite how he normally communicates.
I don't doubt that we have some youngsters coming through, but still it is pretty bad to be talking like this. Watson turned out well this year from nowhere, but that is not the norm. I think we are a bit short in places, and judging by the sounds of it Dai does.

As for the cap, is that what Dai meant? Could it be we don't  have the cash? What about not actually announced Lleyds?
More questions.

He is prob fed up with starting from scratch again on the coach front and rightly so.

I'm not too concerned and certainly won't be over reacting to it, they are mere quotes and are subjective and will be taken by the readers through their half empty or full pint glasses.
I wasn't expecting anymore signings other than potentially the SA guy and if that means we can blood some potential then so be it, the squad we'll have next year should be competitive regardless.

We may be losing a lot of talent but lets be honest, most of the talent was either playing for country, injured constantly or so out of form its not funny...so having a more consistent team would be nice.

I'd imagine we are cap bound looking at next years roster, we still have some good players coming in.

Homer deal looks to be off, not that bothered as Porter looks to be a class act https://www.somersetlive.co.uk/sport/other-sport/premiership-rugby-transfer-rumours-news-2863668

Somerset Live understands a deal for the 23-year-old Jersey Reds half-back was close to completion but now won't be happening.

Might be back to Bath so I read elsewhere...

Same as you RBB, as long as Dan gets fit, with velacott and porter we are well set.

Still believe we need a 4th SH but arguably one coming up behind Porter, not to get in his way.

Saints released Tom emery and Quins released Calum Waters, who I think was voted player of the tournament this year at the 7s so there are still a few young shs about.

Not sure what people mean by the term "competitive." I keep hearing it, here and on DW, but in our league this year everyone was competitive. Newcastle seemed pretty competitive beating us at home. We were a couple a wins away from fourth this year, and a couple away from potential doom at one point, so I will agree that we will be competitive, we have been competitive this year. If you are not competitive then we would not have turned chiefs over. However, I don't feel that we will be in the top two next year, even with the masses of call ups for Sarries, and could easily repeat this season if the injury curse continues. In fact I feel we are likely to be looking for top 6 without any more signings. A couple of years ago we weren't "competetive," I would say a more apposite adjective would be "breathtaking" or "scintillating" and at times downright unstoppable, and more importantly in a league of three. Now we are in a league of ten and I can't see that changing......

This is clearly disappointing, and a little worrying. But I'm not giving up hope quite yet.
