Only the deluded believe you can go out and 'buy' a team overnight that suddenly blitzes the rest, so while thats the case, the best you can hope for is to be competitive. 3-11 are competitive, so not sure what your miracle is expected. Maybe mirroring Sale and buying every Springbok available would satisfy?

Bristol are the best example - they had all the cash - but its taken surviving and time to become a team

Bit of devils advocate here but if there is to be no relegation next season which is also a bit all over the place due to the world cup is it not a free go to promote from academy and take a season building a team before looking at any further signings for the season after?

No - that is a fair point.

So long as we have the resources to introduce academy and championship signings in a planned and measured way - something that we couldn't so with Mike le B this season - had to play too many games too soon, with Jimmy injured, and next to a new 10.

Not sure what people mean by the term "competitive." I keep hearing it, here and on DW, but in our league this year everyone was competitive. Newcastle seemed pretty competitive beating us at home. We were a couple a wins away from fourth this year, and a couple away from potential doom at one point, so I will agree that we will be competitive, we have been competitive this year. If you are not competitive then we would not have turned chiefs over. However, I don't feel that we will be in the top two next year, even with the masses of call ups for Sarries, and could easily repeat this season if the injury curse continues. In fact I feel we are likely to be looking for top 6 without any more signings. A couple of years ago we weren't "competetive," I would say a more apposite adjective would be "breathtaking" or "scintillating" and at times downright unstoppable, and more importantly in a league of three. Now we are in a league of ten and I can't see that changing......

You are putting words in my mouth there. Not sure why.
Nobody wants us to buy a team overnight.

Wasp fans of 2013-16 saw us recruit Haskell, Cipriani, Willie, Kurtley, Robson, Gopperth, Mullan over a few years and blend them into a very effective unit adding to what we had shopping at both Aldi and M and S.  We played fantastic rugby, topped the league and should have had a title. I would not change a minute of it.

I think we are a couple of players short in key positions, not a whole team, South Africans or otherwise.

Numbers 3 to 12 are competitive, I want us to get back to where we were last year,  we won't be far off, and miracles are not required to do that, but saying we will be competing is totally meaningless, the twelfth placed team will be doing that.

Robson was 2nd choice scrum half for Glaws, Hask needed to come back to England for a chance for playing for England, and had shot knees, Mullan was propping for a relegation Wuss (and whilst he had England caps, was nowhere near England at that point I beleive), Gopps was considered to be past it, and instrumental in the worst Leinster team for some time (blame that on MoC). These players became what they are now (or were a couple of seasons ago) at Wasps, not before, in my mind.

I presume by "those players" you don't mean my list of players with Kurtley et al. He really was a superstar.

I did say shopping at Aldi and M and S. Covers the list quite nicely for my mind.

Fwiw you are in error on Mullan, he was injured in after his debut for England a couple of times, wiping out a couple of 6ns, but he toured SA with the full England team the summer before he came to us. Certainly not "nowhere near".

Gopperth was always class at Newcastle just did not work out in Ire, fortunately for us.

Chunky24 let's hope your rumour is true and we get some young players and build for the future.

Found this youtube footage of Vukasinovic the London Scottish lock.

If it turns out not to be true then I will refer everyone to Bobby Bridge's "exclusive reveal" a couple of days later and claim no knowledge!

Surely the biggest issue is that Dai looks well beaten, and no one wants to join him in the coaching team, and of the players that are not contracted beyond this season [and Elliot], the better players are leaving.

Dai's dark place is a self-fulfilling prophesy.

We will not rise out of this hole without a cultural change.

If we can successfully bring through a new wave of youngsters from the academy and move to the new training ground in Leamington sooner rather than later than I think that would create a cultural change.

Securing Worzel as Head Coach for next season wouldn't hurt either.

Bit of an overstatement surely? Danny Wilson defected because he wanted international rugby, Shaun, who frankly has gone down in my estimation as he's messed everybody about, finally came clean and says he wants international rugby and Steve Borthwick stayed with England because, wait for it, he's already got international rugby.

Thats your opinion and its been well stated on DW.

I dont agree with any of it, its hysteria ramblings for me and why I left DW.
