Vellacott gets in as a winger, an option I hadn't really considered but it is now available to us.

Flats’ XV from Round 22 of Gallagher Premiership Rugby:

2 Tom Cruse – Wasps

3 Kieran Brookes – Wasps

4 Joe Launchbury – Wasps

5 Michael Fatialofa – Worcester Warriors

6 Jake Polledri – Gloucester

7 Matt Kvesic – Exeter

8 Zach Mercer – Bath

9 Joe Simpson – Wasps

10 Duncan Weir – Worcester Warriors

11 Ben Velacott – Gloucester

12 Nick Tompkins – Saracens

13 Rory Hutchinson – Northampton

14 Ruiradh McConnochie – Bath

15 Charles Piutau – Bristol Bears

Vellacot at 11? I've not caught up on all of the week-ends games but..

Is this Dai's joker in the pack signing.. Vellacot on the wing?

I think Vellacott came on from the bench. He's certainly got some wheels. Of course Joe also played on the wing sometimes.

I think Joe has moved to wing in the past - as a substitute. Vellacott is also pretty fast.

Vellacott came off the bench for Gloucester to slotted in at wing (guessing as required).

Interesting that both Healey and Mullins said he is 'ridiculous quick' so could easily play there. So good news that we're getting a lightening quick SH to match what Simmo offered and provide consistency with Robsons came.

And given the success of Healey and others in the past as a wing - some game time there would not be wasted on him - easier to get a look at Wasps' systems from out there and wheels are always welcome and if we start to play the AB's "5 phases max to the winger" next season, him and Watson would be a very fast wing partnership! Now if he could play first 5/8th too....

Austin Healey's parents must have had a sense of humour..

Where did he start.. was it Fylde or Ottley?

Nice to know he can cover the wing, but I don't think we're going to be too short of wingers.

For a scrumhalf to be able to play wing.. even if it is only as a stand in, shows a serious rugby brain. A 9 will naturally gravitate towards rucks and mauls, but he didn't.. he quickly realised his new role and stayed out wide hoping for that final pass. I think he will be a great signing

And as I think i said before - a great chance to learn team plays etc whilst not learning those from 9 too.

Robson was playing more wing than scrumhalf in his final games for glaws too. Let's believein fate for this one.
