Before the day they said that over 15,000 had been sold. Because of the licencing restrictions imposed on this type of event the allowed maximum was 20,000 apparently.

One of my friends took his 5 year old lad and has posted videos on facebook. A lot of mud and noise. I saw him and his son this morning and the young lad was still excited. There were a lot of seats covered lower down, for safety, and a lot blocked off as they would not see I would guess, so 20k was probably all they could fit in.

Sounds as if it was a pretty good show, for those who are interested in that sort of thing.

Silly question, but does this mean relaying a totally new pitch? Or would they have covered the pitch and then dumped all that mud on top, once finished you can remove, uncover and let the grass recover over the summer?

It was all covered over.

Well there is still Bon Jovi to come later this month so anything they do now will be hindered by that. Hopefully the pitch had spacers on it to take a deck for the Spice Girls and the Jam. Not sure there would be time for a complete relay but of course no need to rush with the footy gone!

Shame. All that mud would have made it a proper rugby pitch ;D
