It was from an Alistair Eykyn tweet when I posted this, confirmed now by rfu.

12/18 months ago he was arguably the best scrumhalf in the country. Contracting DVT, only playing 20 mins in the 6N's and then being told he's not on the plane to Japan probably effected him mentally and it now appears he's playing with an injury.

Onlookers may say that he's a professional on a good wage and should just get on with things but as we found out with Kearnan, outside influences can effect on field performances.

It looks like Spencer will be part of the WC matchday squad starting on the bench. A comparison with Stephan Donald comes to mind.
