I don't get it, how does a thread you don't wish to engage in be a nuisance?

I ususlly scroll through the posts from the top to see unread messages. The Endless Thread just gets in the way, especially if it is at the very top. If it were a sticky I would be able to ignore it. I can get round it but it seems so simple to fix my issue.

The post that is the first sticky is actually a thread with a few pages. To get to the next unread message I have to go to the next post and then to previous. Would be unnecessary if that were NOT a sticky.

Mine highlights in red that there is a new post so go straight to it. The others remain untouched.

You don't get it. I know the new posts are shown in red.

The way I navigate is to use the next  button which goes directly to the next new message I haven't read, so I can work my way through all the threads to catch up.

The point I'm making is the Endless Thread is always popping up when I do this.

I really can't see why there is such a resistance to making it a sticky. Anyone who wants to contribute would still be able to.
