Really awful news. He always seemed to give a hundred and ten pc on the pitch. Hope he has better luck in the future.
The guys these days put their bodies on the line time and again, these sort of early retirements seem to come more and more often. We really cannot thank them enough.

Such a shame for him.. to think of the 2 horrendous injuries he suffered and then the long rehabilitation that he had to go through, twice and then finally having to admit defeat and call it a day.

Really sad news.  A nice guy, and a great player.  One of the few that always got over the gainline despite not being massive.

It's not the size of the dog in the fight...

He was a brilliant recruit and stepped up so well at a time when the team was thriving in the backrow with big names. Definitely one of my favourite players and like others have said above, gave so much every time he stepped on the pitch. Will be missed

I hope he gets a chance to see how much the fans think of him by coming on the pitch hopefully at the Quins match.

Very sad. I can remember him playing a stormer one Friday night at Northampton.
Three excellent back rowers lost to injury - Tom Rees, Sam Jones and now Alex.
