Bristol interested in Cruise
« on: December 22, 2019, 09:09:30 AM »
According to TRP this morning plus the EAs after May.

Expect to see more of our supposed first team players linked in future weeks.

Nice article on Jacob.

Sunday Mail has Billy Searle off to Worcester.

Tricky decision for Cruise, we are Clearly in free fall and Bristol are clearly on the up. He has just had twins so has to think about uprooting them etc and moving further away from family, imagine money will do the talking again here but I wouldn’t be surprised if he left.

Searle is an interesting one. Clearly a talented lad but just hasn’t kicked on. I personally would lee him around to work with Jacob moving forward. Similar styles and he’ll still be a decent second choice over the years as Lima moves on

He is fine asset.
Our no 1 in his position potentially, which nobody would have thought a couple of years back. At least there or thereabouts.

We have resigned Booj, who is a championship level player currently, whilst people are now sniffing about our solid prem performers- par for the course for most clubs but worrying, nonetheless. Now we may have long term problems with Mac's concussions, and have lost Reider, another solid prem performer, Robson has dropped off, Jimmy must be close to retirement. First we lost a lot of the stars, now some of the glue players seem for one reason or other are in danger. Meanwhile some of our performers- Bassett, Lima, Robson are way off what they were or could be. At least Willis has come through but surely England will come knocking.

Bit harsh on Searle. 17 appearances for us, many only a handful of minutes and has sandwiched a horrific injury. Difficult for him to kick on until he gets some consistent game time.

Agreed InBetween.  Give him time.  showed good potential and not out of his depth.

I think by and large Searle has looked average. He'll always be targeted at 10 due to his stature. He's now probably third choice so may choose to move on. Might seem harsh but I don't think we'd struggle to replace.

Looked average playing for the A's, a  platform that should see him stand out.

Never been convinced by Searle, but I'd be gutted to lose Cruse.

They can't have him, he was my pick for club captain.

Cruise desevres to move to a proper rugby club that has a DoR and coaching staff that know their arse from their elbows. Fantastic player.

Half hope he goes and achieves something as Wasps under Dai and Costlleo are only going one way.

Find alot of the criticism of Searle incredibly harsh, he's fresh off a major injury. Before hand he was starting ahead of our big money All Black (who many on here for some reason still rate) on merit.

Given the incredible amount of slack Lima has been given the treatment Billy is getting from some fans is ridiculous.

Hoping NY brings a new narrative Bracken?
No one has rinsed Searle, don't over egg it, most have just not been convinced and he hasn't received 10% of the negativity Lima has. Try sticking to the facts. Merry Xmas

Every player will want to achieve things (medals, silverware, national honours) and earn more money. Players' careers can be cruelly curtailed which we've  seen with various Wasps players.

I've not begrudged a player who has moved on (apart from one) to another club.

Cruse was arguably our best player last season but if he wants  to try a new club then so be it.

Billy was fantastic in the game against Bristol until he went off. He was the attacking fly half that showed everything we needed and if he gets anyway back to that form he will be a great addition for us.

I was at the game and when Lima replaced him we looked bang average
