The Year.
« on: December 31, 2019, 03:14:30 PM »
I don't think anyone would argue the calendar year 2019 has been great for us. However there must be some good things that have happened. Be interesting to see what others have thought. If you had to list three positives from the year what would they be (no negatives allowed)! Mine would be;
1) Emergence, development and additions of academy players to first team squad.
2) The win away at Exeter. A great result, a big relief, Zhvania going over.
3) Announcement of training ground location. A solution to a problem we've had for a while and a decent indicator of stability.

1:  The appearance of a team bonding well together in terms of personality.
2:  The green shoots of playing a team based attractive rugger.
3:  The win at Bristol high I think combined the attributes of 1 and 2.

a) Jacob
b) Dangerous looking back three
c) Class front row

I've concentrated on team issues as what I have always wanted from my first Wasps game in the mid 80's, is inventive, wide ranging back play that scares the opposition "backed" up by a front row and other forwards that take no crap! That's why I was a huge fan of Jeff P and others back in the day and why with someone of Jacob's vision, handled well, we will start to scare teams off even less than even ball.

If we can just get some players fit.....we will likely be a team no one fancies what with the prospect of a very decent pack, creativity and game management. We've shown all that at times, just hardly ever for 80. Confidence is a big thing, its important, but we do need to have a long look at ourselves.

The team and leadership that fail to look at themselves and their performances, critically and honestly are a team and leadership that are likely to fail to improve. And that does mean that if performances and results don't improve......that we're not afraid to take action.

3) A journalist, without the sewn in contacts, finally blowing the cheats cover. She deserves thanks for that alone but little will happen.

A Saracens getting a modicum of comeuppance

B Wales not winning the world cup. Could not live with 4 years of that. Or maybe 40. Nz getting a beating too.

C  The back row, esp Willis.

Highlight of the year- Bris x2. Did not see Chiefs in person.
