2020 Donations to keep the forum running
« on: January 27, 2020, 04:10:59 PM »
Hi!

The forum has been getting more and more popular and it is coming up on a year since we had the issues with hosting and so many of you kindly donated to help with the running costs.

With this in mind I am asking if you could help spare a few pounds to go towards the hosting costs again.

I want to stress that it is in no way compulsory, nor will you miss out on anything by not donating.  This site is free for everyone, and will continue to be so for the forseeable future.

I have been unable to remove the option to display donations, but please don't feel you have to add your name.

If you don't want to donate for any reason at all that is absolutely fine, but if you use an adblocker I would appreciate you making this site an exception.

You can access the dontaion page either here or by clicking the link in the menu bar on the left.

Thanks very much for making this site an awesome place to be.

Now, I want to do this (and will), but can I ask a question first?

When I go through the Paypal link it brings up the payment screen with the name "The Weapons Store" at the top. I'd rather not have that on my bill, is that the name of the entity (company?) the money funnels through?

Thanks for your efforts VV.

Some years ago I used to sell martial arts equipment. That was the name of the company and therefore the name of the paypal account I set up to created to accept payments some years ago.  I realise it is a little odd, apologies for that!  It's a long standing account with a good history so I'd rather not have to get rid of it and start again.

I moved house in November and found a couple of pairs of nunchucks from old stock, I can send you a pair if you really want?

Haha.
Nah, it's ok.

Although, I've got 3 year old twins, maybe I should start them off in combat sports early

Hmm. Just had a whole series of panicked telephone conversations with my bank and Paypal about this, due to the Weapons Store title and link (non-operative) on the receipt: thought my account was about to be compromised. VV, can I just have confirmation that this is all above board and that the payment has gone to where it should have done? Perhaps you need to put a note onto the mail asking for donations to prevent this in future?

Many apologies.

I can categorically confirm that The Weapon Store is the name of my paypal account due to a former business. I will see if I can change the link on the receipt.

I will make sure there is a different process in place for next year!
