If this generation of promoted academy players have 4 future Internationals that form the core of the team [like Launchbury Wade Daly Jones] I think it is easier to keep them and the more peripheral players. We then just need to keep the taps on from the Academy and pick and chose those elite players that enhance the team and make us compete at the top level.
I watch the team because of the players that have come through the system [Rob Smith has a small shrine outside my house], not because of the Piatau's etc.
Like you, I follow the team because they're my team - Not for the sprinkling of stardust we've enjoyed over the years. That being said, i've thoroughly enjoyed watching the likes of Smith, Beale, Piutau, WLR etc...
