No more tries using post protector
« on: May 12, 2020, 04:36:41 PM »
Just announced on Radio 5. No more grounding at base of post protector.

Why not introduce American Football type posts?

Unintended consequences ...

Defence will now use the post shields as part of their defensive line and push players into them.

Is there a size restriction on post protectors Or do home teams invest in massive wide post protectors for the end they are defending?

I'm pleased about this. Scoring at the base of the posts is too easy and impossible to defend. Supports outside of the in goal area could work.

I’ve never understood why posts can’t be two feet behind try line

For me it is a good ruling. Any rule changes which reduces"pick and go, pick and go etc." are welcome. Now can we have a rule change restricting numerous players from joining the line out maul close to the try line please.
