And B is the trap that too many fall into. In a 12 team league, then even with everyone spending right up to the cap and splashing out big on marquee players, only half are ever going to make top 6, two thirds will not be in the play offs and as things stand one will find themselves playing the following season against Ampthill, Jersey and Doncaster rather than Clermont, Toulouse and Leinster.

While there are still multiple clubs willing and able to spend up to it then it should remain as is imo.

So as long as there's a handful of rich owners willing to continue ploughing more and more of their own cash into otherwise totally unsustainable rugby clubs, then the pragmatic majority just has to suck it up??
I think you may have missed the point of the salary cap.

It is a trap, but without spending you more or less guarantee you won't make it.
