Utility back rower available?

Since the announcement that Carr was leaving there has been some talk of us needing a utility back row player to supplement our excellent first up options. Just read that Jamie Gibson has been released by Northampton. I've never seen him have a bad game. He's 29 so not past it by any means but would hit the ground running. Shouldn't break the bank and presumably is relatively local. A possibility?

He's always managed to get up my nose, which is no bad thing, if we are looking for a good squad back row

Based on the Carr comments I read, it seems we let him go, or possibly offered him too little. To me that suggests we can't 'afford' any more players. I think what we know we have, is ALL we will have. Business done.

Yeah I doubt we'll sign anyone either. Not end of the world given Tom Willis needs game time, but losing the depth we had is annoying.
Gibson is s great player, but according to Saints fans he's lost form since being injured and having less game time due to Ludlam.

We should focus on Tom Willis’s development. He will soon be a better player than Jamie Gibson.

Sounds like he won't be going too far as they mention he might be recalled if they have injuries, given their recent link up Bedford would make sense.
