On my phone it was easy - however he's currently in 3rd place.

Some damn good tries there. I wouldn't put my hand on heart and say Josh's was the best. Still proud of the lads though.

I'm not running him down but all he had to do was catch it. All the work had been done earlier in the movement.

Whenever I vote on those I look at the overall try from start to finish. Generally I prefer team effort tries where other people had done the hard work earlier in the build-up.

Perhaps they should have called it "the Young/Sopoaga/Robson/Bassett try" :)

I personally loved Josh's second try, and was my favourite try of the weekend.

That said, I'm disgruntled by comments on YouTube and such saying the last pass was forwards.... But from the angles provided in highlights I cannot see any evidence. Anyone else think we got away with it, or is it just angry Northampton fans?

Must admit live I said f#@k its forward they'll look at that. But the more they replayed it I thought flat. Then the lovely Austin said it was flat and by that time the kick was over.
Let me tell you something cucumber

If anything I was more concerned by the Young pass to Lima, then the last pass. However it was given so who gives a .....

Just watching it back now. Both the ref and touch judge were in line with Young when he passed to Sopoaga. Neither thought it was forward.

I actually think some top level refs don't know what constitutes a forward pass.

A ball seemingly travelling forwards doesn't mean its a forward pass.

Most passes from a player running at speed actually travels forward.. despite being passed backwards.

Yep, the've confirmed several times that the interpretation is the travel of the ball relative to player passing and not relative to the ground. That's the application of the 'laws' whether we like it or not.

I also view it as a perk to being a quick team. If you've left all the officials behind, and still produce flat passes, then it's a perk to be allowed them.

I get frustrated when tries like that get struck off, for slightly forward passes, despite the fact that it gives no advantage to the attacking team. I get it when the forward pass allows a player to have run beyond, or level to the defensive line, and thus can make a break, but no one was going to stop bassett whether the pass was flat a foot back, or a foot forawrds.

I'm not saying we should let obvious forwards passes go, but if none of the officials picked up on it or were suspicious enough to check, I don't want the TMO interfering.

Was a lot simpler before we had TMOs with slow motion replays. If it looked forward, the ref/TJ called it forward. Yes, they got some wrong, but endless replays meticulously stodying the motion of the player's hands are pretty tedious.

Rugby needs to be careful not to end up like football's VAR where a goal can be disallowed because someones toe was off side.
I am sure technology could in theory work out if a pass was forward, but I don't think anyone wants that. On field ref checks with the TMO if he's not sure, that's mostly working very well for me.
