Commonwealth games Birmingham 2022
« on: October 16, 2020, 11:36:54 PM »
The commonwealth games website has stated that the rugby 7's will be staged at the Coventry Stadium 29th-31st July 2022. Presumably this is our home pitch (formally known as the Ricoh)

Also formerly known as the Coventry Stadium - I think.

Women's bronze medal match, I was there too, (spoiler!) never been so relieved to see a last minute winner so it didn't go in extra time as it was so hot!

Yes.

It was the only Olympic event I got to see, although I spent a week working at the O2 (North Greenwich Arena) as practice area manager for the Artistic Gymnastics. I got to see a couple of medal presentations, but not the competitions themselves.

Some of the road cycling is starting in Warwick.. St Nichs Park.

We have a few hills but nothing to test pro cyclists around here.

I presume they will have to cycle back towards brum.. going through villages.. hedge lined lanes.

I'm presuming most residents will welcome pro-athletes training or participating in the area.

It might cause a bit of disruption to South Warwickshire/Cov/Brum but I can't wait to see high level (ok.. its the Commonwealth Games) sport taking place on my doorstep.

I don't mind what it is.. gymnastics (RogerE.. that's your field of expertise I think). . Netball.. cycling.. weightlifting??
