Does the Ref have to be English?   If so,  does Nig (by any lucky chance) have an English granny??

It's a potential option. Alternatively there is no reason why we couldn't get Nigel Owens over to Dublin and bring back a Premiership ref and then put forward an English Assistant Ref for the Barbarians match. After all, Owens did referee Wales v Barbarians last November, and there haven't been neutral refs in the Bledisloe Cup games this year.

It's a PRL match so it has to be RFU referees. Wouldn't mind from elsewhere but if you have first class (their terminology) refs available why pay for outsiders.

Really? CMK doesn't need assistants as he rarely uses them. He knows best.

I don't think it has to be an RFU referee, as we've had overseas referees before. The RFU ran a long term swap scheme with the French, whereby their Refs did Premiership matches and our refs did Top 14 games. I can recall Nigel Owens refereeing a Wasps game too. I can even recall Kiwi officials doing PRL matches.

Really? CMK doesn't need assistants as he rarely uses them. He knows best.

He also rarely uses his eyes when close to the breakdown.

I can recall Nige doing Wasps Euro games in the past but not PRL matches. However that's not to say it didn't happen.
