Didn't a Russian prince play for England in the dim and distant past?

Threat of relegation would certainly concentrate the mind ,even if it came to a playoff .

Would generate a lot more interest and develop teams over Europe. I read somewhere that a match between Georgia and Russia can attract a crowd of around 50,000. Could be Putin bulls**t of course, isn’t there talk of them bidding for RWC?

That crowd is in Tbilisi, so no Russian misinformation there. But then Madagascar get crowds of 30,000.

I just think there's a gulf between Italy and Georgia as the next best, and there's a gulf between Georgia and the rest of the European second tier. So quite how you close that gap without simply swapping one whipping squad for another I'm not sure.

Crowds of 50k weren't uncommon in Georgia, but they are now so far ahead of the likes of Romania, Russia, Spain, Portugal etc that they win comfortably with weakened sides. The knock on effect is that crowds are decreasing at a worrying rate. I fear that Rugby may have missed the boat as far as Georgia are concerned.

Madagascar considers Rugby as it's national sport.

Georgia aren't in Italy's pool. They may play each other in the final round if Italy fail to win a game.

Hence "...assuming it falls to form , will be Georgia v Italy in the 4th place ‘playoff’" as if results follow current rankings, then Italy and Georgia will finish up playing off for the wooden spoon.

Apologies. Been having a rather stressful off-week/month/life.

Likely to be 7 nations as France - Fiji is off. 5 Fijians have C19, including Semi.

Now 29 Fijians with Covid. Italy match off and I can't see how their remaining matches can go ahead.
