And it's up for try of the week:
https://www.premiershiprugby.com/news/the-famous-grouse-try-of-the-week

A new sponsor.
I’ll drink to that!

Nope Grouse not too good.

I used to do some work in Gandhinagar, India, and as its a dry state I used to take a 1L bottle of Grouse, its not bad for a blend and I didn't want to risk a malt being confiscated :)

I've got Highland Park, Glenlivet and Tamnavulin in at the moment.

You can't go wrong with a Macallan gold or an Aberlour. I prefer those from sherry casks - struggle a bit with the smokier ones.

Try Highland Park 15 or better 18 yr old. It is purely personal this taste thing. I used to love the iodine Islay crew and still have a bottle of most but found myself migrating to something with a lesser hammer blow taste. Just got an offer from HP to buy a 40 year old but I was glad to pay off my mortgage and don't feel I want another.

Ha! I wouldn't dare drink it. I'll try the Highland Park. The only one of those I've had was the Dragon Legend one. Also, Tamdhu is nice - used to only be available through M&S.

My Dad used to swear  by Laphroaig. Far too peaty for me. When I was drinking there wasn't a lot of selection of single malts and when my Dad was alive, there was even less.

Kind of agree with Laphroaig although I persevered for many years. I still like Lagavulin from same island. Must admit to being puzzled by the shelves full of the strange stuff when ordering my Tartan Special at 1/10 a pint!!! I have learned.

The EPCR site has a report on the first week of the Premiership.

The Wasps/Bristol match has 2 paragraphs, the second of which shows it was written by someone who has absolutely no idea.

Wasps overcame Challenge Cup winners Bristol Bears 23-20 as both prepare for the upcoming pool stage of the Champions Cup.

A late Tom Willis try – his second of the game – with just two minutes left on the clock was the difference between the two sides at the Ricoh Arena.

I’m sure Jack can spare him one.

Was just ordering some vino for Christmas from Sainsbury’s (25% off 6 bottles ) when I happened to notice they have got highland park 12 year old at £26 (£9 off )   Well that’s the first window of the advent calendar sorted.

On the Malt Front - I found that I really only liked the Lowland Malts and those with a sweeter, milder flavour. Never could get my head around the peaty malts and I've tried a few. Examples I've liked include Glenkinchie and Auchentoshan, but I'm more than happy with less esoteric that I and throw an ice cube into.......

Auchentoshan is, I think, the only triple distilled Scottish whisky and is very smooth. Glenkinchie is a lovely little distillery to visit not far from Edinburgh (to the East). Just behind my sister's house so we always have a bottle!
