Excellent performance. Not a great match, but some good moments, in particular the Odogwu and Gaskell tries.

To top it all off Atkinson got his try!

Considering who we were missing I am impressed. Even with red card, was a good performance by the young guns.

On a different note, can someone replace Jimmy for kicking duty until he gets his mojo back?

Bassett did nothing wrong.
I think he’s calling Bertie a heavyweight/ senior

Got so much of the rub of the green it will never come out in the wash. No idea how we walked away from those scrums with 14 blokes on the pitch and having not conceded - though the final penalty was stone cold them boring him.

Atkinson was quality, Alfie was his usual brilliance, Paolo looks better and better at 13. West superb, I think he should start.

Why didn't Minozzi come on sooner?

Scoreline flatters us, we really made hard work of it though

For all the talk of Monts being a big side the forwards did really well, red card or no. Bodes well for the rest of the season.

Excellent result from the boys! That was a near fully loaded Montpellier team and we did a job on them. The red certainly helped no doubt, but we played very well. Definitely could see our game plan and style showing through again which was so pleasing given it was a little MIA at the start of this term (hangover from last season now wearing off?)  :D
Team well led by young young, the
Pack as a unit performed really well. Barberry, Porter, Atkinson fantastic. Odogwu looking the part at 13. Bassett excellent. Cruise all over the park...bench brought an impact. Really
Proud of the lads.

Really a big shame. With Atkinson coming through I'm thinking he might not see out another season... But it's a complicated matter. He is expensive for what he is though.

Jacob might be thinking he has to up his game to get his place back  ;)

More seriously, great to see competition amongst the younsters for that spot with still some experience around.

I respectfully disagree. We absolutely earned and deserved the 5 point win. We made a few odd mistakes pushing the boundaries but it was a very good game where we were missing our internationals and had an inexperienced 9 & 10 who really stepped it up.

It’s a strange feeling , we all seem to be willing him to do well , whereas, anyone else we would be absolutely slating him

Bullet point analysis:
Delighted with 5.
Don't think we'd have won without the red
Don't care
West is a scrummaging exemplar
Where do we play Barbeary
Lima frustrating but I still stick by him
Atkinson and Porter excellent
Odogwu settling at 13
Jimmy needs two weeks off

Really pleased with all the youngsters. They sealed the win. I hadn’t realised Porter was that good and it means Ben Velacott has some catching up to do which isn’t a bad thing.

If we can get the line out throwing and goal kicking firing we are going to do well.

I thought we played the referee well and were fortunate on occasions but I’m not complaining. Great night.

Never having played in front row , why did picture of scrum change when oghre come on ? I know commentators said West had sort of influenced ref re binding, was it purely down to that and change of prop was coincidental?

Great work from Porter, if memory serves me right Dai thought very highly of him and he’s actually captained the side in the AV cup (or was it the A League) a few niggly injuries during the restart prevented him pushing on.
Lee has a tough job to keep 4 quality scrum halves happy.
