Thanks.

Our son and his fiancé were meant to be coming to us Boxing Day so I didn't expect to be watching any rugby. The way Galws played in their last game their game against Exeter might be worth watching.

That's not what it says on the BBC:

Quote
Premiership Rugby will make a further announcement on the allocation of points for the fixture when a panel has been convened.

But, following a rule change in November, the Premiership will no longer automatically award five points to teams when the opposition is unable to field a side because of coronavirus.

League bosses said then that a four-point win would be awarded to the club able to name a side, with two points to the team forced to cancel.

Which made me wonder, should Newcastle be forced to name a side on the 24th as normal to show that they could, with all the relevant Covid free data?

Really good point there.

The covid system now could be troublesome if covid is around at the end of season.
Imagine team A need  2 points at the end to avoid relegation or get a play off spot or whatever, but are playing say, team B away who  have a good chance of beating them and also need a win. Team A forfeit due to being unable to field a team. Team B are happy and both teams get what they want. Being able to forfeit for a guaranteed two points could be open to more abuse than the current system of zero points for a forfeit.

True stat: Two points from a cancelled trip to Newcastle would be Leicester's best outcome from an away match in the Premiership in 2020. So far they've only had one bonus point.
