Minozzi unavailable for selection too. Basically means either Odogwu at 13 and Sirker on Wing, or Odogwu on the wing with De Jongh at centre. Hmmmm.

The latter if noone else available. Sirker would be too muchg of an unknown risk against anyone but especially O'Fla and Woodburn.

Yeah I'm torn because I think Odogwu is better at 13, but Sirker is a risk

Great to see Fekitoa’s return progressing faster than expected (he was originally set to return late January / early February).

Vailanu has been back in training for a couple of weeks, so should be available for selection depending on performance.

Watson & Simonds were due back now (end of December), so I’m not sure what the lack of an update means for those two.

Injury list:
Watson (groin) - originally late December
Simonds (hamstring) - originally late December
Miller (knee) - mid January
Spink (foot) - late February
Barbeary (ankle) - late February (if no surgery is needed)
Curran (calf) - no timeline
Kibirigi (HIA) - no clear timeline
Umaga (cheek) - no clear timeline

Minozzi unavailable for selection too. Basically means either Odogwu at 13 and Sirker on Wing, or Odogwu on the wing with De Jongh at centre. Hmmmm.

Agree with the Odogwu/JdJ selection.

The strange thing with Minozzi is that he has had very little game time this season even after his return from Italy; 23 mins against Newcastle, 10 mins against Dragons and 5 mins against Montpellier. I wonder if there is a fitness or even a performance-related issue.

I may have missed these somewhere but not sure on the status of;
Alo
Oghre
Owlett
Vailanu
Vellacott (may not be an injury)

Shugs,

Alo - available but based on performance Brookes & Toomaga Allen are first choice 3 and 18.
Oghre - available (last game was Montpellier).
Owlett - available but similar to Alo, he’s 4th choice in the TH prop pecking order.
Vailanu - back in full training and is available for selection. With Barbeary’s injury, Vailanu may make the bench for the next couple of games to cover T Willis @ 8 until Shield is fit for selection.
Vellacott - available (last game was Montpellier). If Umaga remains unavailable, it’ll be interesting to see who Blackett chooses for 21 against Exeter.

Thanks for that. I'm a bit bemused as to why we didn't have more TH cover at Sale.

I would have presumed they'd have taken one extra prop with, and with Chesty able to cover both sides whilst being predominantly a LH, that taking an extra LH was the preferred option. It does appear that only players in the squad to travel were back in training on Saturday and it's possible that Owlett and Alo may have been away from Coventry as both have family elsewhere in the Country and therefore couldn't physically get to Salford in time.

Just read J Willis was subbed off at HT due to a hip injury. Hope it isn’t too serious and more or a precaution. Losing him and Barbeary would hit our back row hard.

On a positive it’s good to read that Miller was a travelling reserves today ... inching closer to a come back. With Minozzi hopefully back from his rest as well, we should have solid flexibility at full back soon.

Back spasm was the prognosis after the match.

Similar to what Brookes’ had last week? If so, what a relief.
