I hope everything is okay with Matteo.
It can’t be easy being in lockdown in a different country away from your friends and family.
+1
I'm currently listening to the A History of Italy podcast series and there's something in the generalisation that Italian families are closer than British families from what the presenter says.
Its also good that he feels he can talk about it and the rugby authorities should be commended for talking mental health seriously, indeed the game in general should be commended. A few years ago there was a spate of suicides amongst Afghan and Iraq veterans and they ran a self help campaign called Strong, Not Silent fronted by some pretty tough special forces types talking about the need to open up and seek help. I think some of that leaked in to rugby IIRC.
Its also tough mentally at the best of times for international players in all sports when they're on the road, cricket has had a couple of examples of players returning home or not touring because of mental health problems. On TMS yesterday they talked about what the England players will have to go through when they arrive in India. Six days in a hotel room. On the 3rd day, if they've had a negative test, they can have 1 hour a day in the gym, but they must be on their own. After 6 days, and 3 negative tests they'll be allowed out. They then go straight into a test match.
