I find Tempest an acquired taste. Not necessarily because of his rugby knowledge but his attitude is, for lack of a better word, “sharp”. During the Leicester v Sale game a couple of weeks back I got this distinct feeling that Christophe Ridley (TMO) was at times walking on egg shells while communicating with Tempest. On one occasion there was a tackle (by Lavanini I think) where Ridley professionally said he’d checked it over and hands were used but Tempest in a very abrupt (almost rude) manner shut him down and said he wanted to have a look himself. I feel it’s unnecessary and doesn’t bode well for the ‘refereeing unit’.
