Oghre Covid Breach
« on: February 11, 2021, 07:18:56 PM »
https://www.wasps.co.uk/news/club-statement-covid-19-regulations-breach/

Wasps are aware of a breach of Covid-19 regulations by one of our players, Gabriel Oghre. The club were extremely disappointed to learn of this incident, particularly as we regularly remind all players and staff about the latest protocols and their responsibility to set an example by adhering to them.

A club investigation has already taken place and this matter has been dealt with internally.

Disappointing. Anyone know what's gone on?

Update: banned for 3 weeks for households mixing.

Jonathan Joseph banned for 2 weeks and Elliot Stooke for 3 also.

This was for off-field infringements of the Government's National Covid-19 Rules and related to mixing of multiple households, with two players travelling to visit the third

Maybe they were witnessing Stooke sign his contract for us. Very silly but, probably just one of the few that’s been caught and now he’ll miss out on inevitable gametime over the next few weeks

Ps. Olly Kohn on a disciplinary panel - yikes! A bit like seeing Buster White there too

Gabriel Ohgre, Wasps will miss the following matches:

31.01 Wasps v Harlequins
Sunday 14 February - Worcester Warriors v Wasps
Saturday 20 February - Leicester Tigers v Wasps

So the first match of his suspension was the Quins game 2 weeks ago. Then he was free to play against Northampton last weekend. Now he sits out a further 2 matches. That doesn't seem right.

Not sure what is the more bizarre element. The fact he breached protocol, the fact he was visiting Elliot Stooke or the fact his ban doesn't seem to have run over consecutive games.

How disappointing, Gabriel was the only player in the last two games who made more than one jackal and he didnt play against Quins.

That leaves us with Morris, Willis and Shields starting for the next few weeks. Have we any other flankers available?

Vailanu fit at 8, hope Curran is back from injury maybe an early chance for Pichardie if not
ZuZu to 6 if I was Eddie Jones

Possibly Wasps banned him for one game initially which allowed him to return then has been extended by RFU.

Firstly, a massive disappointment that Gaby decided to break the rules. I agree with other comments, surely if Vailanu is fit he goes to 8 and we then have options..
It was fine when I left it.....

Very disappointing. Not only has he let himself down but he has let down his team mates and the club big time.

Gaby apologises as reported by Bobby Bridge:

And yes, you are quite right. Wasps had already banned him for one match.
