That’s Newcastle’s third Covid cancellation - including this game they have collected 8 Covid cancellation points i.e. a third of their points haul this season...

Here is a summary of the 7 Covid cancellations so far:

  - Northampton: 3 games cancelled (10 points collected or 38% of total points)
  - Worcester: 2 (8/53%)
  - Newcastle: 3 (8/32%)
  - Leicester: 2 (6/30%)
  - Irish: 2 (4/18%)
  - Bath: 1 (4/25%)
  - Harlequins: 1 (2/7%)

Newcastle & Irish have cancelled the most games (2 each) due to outbreaks in their own camps.

Northampton & Worcester have had the most games cancelled (2 each) due to outbreaks in their opponent’s camps.

More than half of Worcester’s points haul this season so far have been from Covid cancellations (8 out of 15).

Whilst relegation clearly needed to be cut, it's not going to look good if there's a close call with top 4 teams and a cancellation points have a significant effect on the playoff spots.

I like cancelled games because they give you the advantage of getting points without the risk of injuries.  Typical for Wasps that, with our luck, we don't get any.  LOL

Surely at some point someone has to ask "repeat offenders" what their practices are. Might just be bad luck but some seem to be off every other week.

Surely points accrued by playing games rather than not playing, should take precedence if there is a tie in a position?

I was thinking the same, do covid wins count as actual wins?

Good point . Normally points difference? Maybe should be on tries scored.

8 points in this league is massive - I'd be peeved if Wasps missed out on top 4 because of something like this

Playing devil's advocate, imagine our match against Worcester had been called off and we got the 4 points. Would you be happy knowing that a match we would be expected to win, wasn't counted at the end of the year due to our opponents getting covid?

It is a horrible situation to try and work out fairly for everyone

Probably not even considered , but if it had been part of agreement at beginning  (or even brought in  now) would be happy to accept it. Maybe not on last day of season!

Like pretty much every other decision being made at the moment, its not ideal, but then neither were last seasons regs.
It is what it is & we can moan about it as much as you like, there is no totally fair & balanced solution.
Like relegation, we might not like it being suspended but it is probably the least worse solution.

I think removing relegation is the only leveller they can do. The rest of it is just the situation as it is
