Might be the same match you're thinking of (can't remember the game either - I want to say it was a Saints game, but could be totally wrong, I think it was Luke Pearce reffing who after a bundle over the line asked the team whether he needs to check it, or wasn't a try.  Thought it was an interesting bit of psychology and a clever question from Pearce.

I assume you’re referring to this part:

“Jimmy’s Jimmy isn't he,” he said. “To be honest I’ve not spoken to him about it, I can’t say I was that pleased, mind.”

I read it more as a tongue-in-cheek statement. Probably a missed PR opportunity about integrity & sportsmanship.

Reiterating the sentiments of others, I fully agree with Gopperth’s actions. Shows genuine integrity. Might even help our ‘tainted perception’ with referees.
