Is Ihaia West Wasps kind of player?
« on: April 10, 2021, 07:19:58 PM »
Just a question I thought I'd ask. West played at 10 for La Rochelle today and on the whole was pretty good. Not a great kicker, but passing was pretty crisp. He's also a utility back player. He's leaving la Rochelle and currently not signed with anyone, curious if he'd suit our problems at 12.... Purely thinking out loud about the kind of player we need at 12 for depth.

I'd certainly take him! I suspect he'll have a lot of offers.

I actually thought he was La Rochelle's most pivotal player, he would be a great addition, however he will head to Japan.
It was fine when I left it.....

He may well head back to Covid-free NZ, where normal life has to be worth earning less money?

A good player who we would hopefully least enquire about. Mixed results with kiwi fly halves, mind....

West has always been a class act going forward, has all the skills and touches but has made some absolute clangers as well - some horrendous match swinging mistakes with some very questionable goal kicking and defence
- sounds a great fit for our 10 shirt

He would be a useful addition to our squad - whether we could afford him, bearing in mind, the other areas of the squad that need re-infocing, is another matter.
