As an ex forward, I'm always nervous when a club is led by a back.
I'm probably doing Lee and all the others a disservice, but when the final decisions aren't made by an ex forward, I feel that the scrum can be neglected.

That being said, I'm sure any fans who used to be backs feel the reverse when an ex forward is head coach

Dai did very well on recruiting/developing backs and producing some fairly exciting teams.

A back should be aware more than anyone that they can't play without good ball from the pack.

I put Dai’s openness to back play down to having played league.

A successful centre in leading a club (admittedly with a lot of dubious back up) ? Mark McCall

Blackett has stated he knows we are dominant with a large pack. I'd be surprised if he doesn't have a new prop (or two) up his sleeve.

This ain't a rumour, purely day dreaming.

I just saw IRFU have been struggling to sign furlong, that would be a hell of a replacement for Brookes (if he does leave). Again, just day dreaming.

In before Ruck links us with him.

It's now a rumour.  It must be as I read it on the internet! :)

He could take Lima's marquee slot as a player coming from outside the Premiership.  Good tightheads are hard to come by.  They're just finalising his contract and will announce Brookes's departure first then follow it up with this news.  All makes sense now! :)

I think the supporters know that as well. If we can edge the physical stuff, then our backs will have fun.

There cannot be anyway he goes to Exeter, even if to replace Francis. If they are signing Obano as well, I literally can't see how they could stay under the salary cap. He will want the same wages as Hogg and Gray etc.

Plus wouldn't it end his Ireland career?

I wondered this. Sexton had a sort of sabbatical in France when he was roughly the same age. No idea if that rationale applies here.

I don't think Sexton's was a sabbatical. It was a proper move, but he came back after a year as he didn't like the culture difference and the amount he was expected to play. Jonathan Davies did the same with Clermont, Jamie Roberts with Racing .

Ah right fair enough.

I wasn't paying attention to this sport back then, so reading the Wikipedia page on Sexton came across as a sabbatical. My mistake.
