JdeJ goodbye
« on: May 10, 2021, 04:55:33 PM »
Juan de Jongh seems to confirm on his Twitter that he is leaving. Definite changing of the guard and happening at the club.

Not unexpected at all but wish him well. The best defensive 13 at the club without doubt and a real talker in the midfield which we are also lacking at present. The others however offer a lot more razzle dazzle going forward than Juan can offer now and Spink really should be pushing on as third choice in that position now too

He always struck me as one of life’s “good guys”, an honest player who played with a smile on his face. I wish him well.

We're certainly bucking the Premiership trend with South African players.  4 out in the last couple of years while others (one or two in particular) have been loading their squads.  Tighthead from Scarlets rumoured to be inbound to redress the balance.

Best wished to JdJ.  Always felt more comfortable with our defence when he was playing.

Will always be remembered for that pickpocket try he scored, everyone in the stadium except Juan thought the Saints player had the ball.

As others have said, not unexpected but still a shame. A great servant for the club, great squad bloke, and will be much missed on and off the field. Bets of luck Juan!
