I have changed the way people register. They now do not need admin approval, but have to answer three simple questions about Wasps. It is possible we will end up with some spam, so apologies if we do. If it doesn't work then I will switch it back.

Are they questions fans of other teams would know easily enough? Don't want to put off genuine visitors.

It seems to be working so far. If you have even the slightest interest in rugby or knowledge of the team you should be able to answer them easily. But if you're just looking for a quick sign up to spam links to cheap drugs not so much...

It seems to be working pretty well to press. One person slipped through but was removed quickly enough.
I'd rather have the odd spammer get in and still have people able to join than keep it completely closed.
