Both Georgians leaving
« on: June 11, 2021, 03:59:11 PM »
https://www.wasps.co.uk/news/georgian-pair-to-leave-wasps-at-the-end-of-the-season/

Wasps can today confirm that Lasha Jaiani and Zurabi Zhvania will be leaving the Club at the end of the season.

Wasps Head Coach Lee Blackett said: “I would like to thank Lasha and Zurabi for all his effort during their time at the club, we would like to wish them all the best for the future.”

Jaiani added: “I’ve enjoyed my time at Wasps. It’s been a good experience and I want to wish the Team the very best for the future.”

So ends speculation on other threads re ZZ.
Shame about Jaiani, did he play in the u23s game or did he only train?

Well that comes as a surprise.

Kills off the comments elsewhere that ZZ was here for another season.

Thought our young lock was progressing well.

Did he get a game? All very odd. More recruits needed.

From what I can gather ZZ did have another year but was told we would not stand in his way if he wanted to leave. It does make me wonder what the plan is as it potentially leaves us short of cover at Loosehead with Chesty off as well. I do suspect the club have a plan though and we will be fully stocked next season.

Surprised about Lasha leaving however. I know there were high hopes for him.

Only in the U23 friendly against Irish.

Also didn't miss any of the Euro Championship Georgian matches - to my mind he played well. So he was away for a chunk of his time with us but keeping fit.

Yes. Shame he isn't staying as the learning opportunities of two matches against the Springboks will only boost his development.

Jaiani perhaps just wasn’t cutting it.
Yes he’s playing for Georgia but aside from that I believe the highest level he’s played is uni BUCS rugby.
Worth a punt but possibly Just didn’t pan out as hoped.
Maybe he’s got a better offer elsewhere, who knows
Plus that’s two ‘overseas’ players gone too
Blackett said he was looking for a front line lock and another squad lock so this may have been expected a while ago.

Especially with both Launch and TV3 injured for a good chunk of next season. Incomer(s) needed.

Still have my hopes up for Fifita coming, out of favour with NZ for a while and he’s been left out by the Canes again this week and is back playing club rugby for Wellington. 🤞

No comment from ZZ - feels like he's had no involvement with the squad/training at all for a little while

I agree. He's a great carrier and monstrous on the field. If he did arrive I'd hope to develop him into and all rounder. But I'm not sure it will happen.

All a bit odd. Bottom line is we now need a new second row and an academy product at LH.

Zhvania just spotted on Vailanu’s Instagram so unless Vailanu is on holiday visiting him I’d assume he’s still in the country. Wonder if we’ll ever hear more about what happened there.

Perhaps a move to Worcester on the cards?
