Those of you who watched Wasps at Loftus Road will remember Mark Weedon, the kiwi lock who captained Wasps in the 1998/99 season.

Sadly Mark passed away in New Zealand yesterday. He returned after leaving Wasps in 2000 and was working as a teacher. He was still heavily involved in Rugby with two clubs in the Bay of Plenty region.

On a personal level, Mark showed me around behind the scenes at Loftus Road when I was a matchday mascot in April 1998 and after then made a point of coming over to say hello to me and my father before every game. A small gesture that meant a lot to me at the time.

Such sad news. Was a key part of the team that paved the way for the success of the mid 00s.
RIP.
