I think there is something in this. Having said that I do think a good coaching team is essential. But, I think the technical side of things is overplayed. For me the absolute key role the coaches play is creating a esprit de corps in the squad. Creating an environment the players enjoy and somehow generating that X factor of team spirit that all good teams have. Interestingly all the comments I've heard Blackett make around our current group stress this from "wanting to run through brick walls for Everard" to "looking up to Mitchell" to "having lots of social time". I'm sure the technical stuff goes on but these other factors are more important for me.
