Sam Jones in full training or maybe not
« on: January 02, 2018, 10:11:11 PM »
There is an injury update in the Cov Telegraph with a headline saying Sam is in full training, but the body says he is close to full training. So he either is back in full training or still in the 'nearly back' as he seems to have been all season.

He is doing SOME training. Before he was training in the Gym only (plus he does cycling, I seem to recall). He is doing some running training outside now. This will be testing out the problem he had been having, which is the impact of running through legs that were supposed to be healed, but which still hurt him. So far all looks good (no pain), so he will start contact training very soon. With so long out, he is surely going to need more than a couple of weeks? I would guess they could put him on the bench for the AWC games and give him some time there.

Listening to Goodie on his podcast, he seems to think Sam is a long way from ready. He also says that (the injured) Matt Symons has signed for Quins. Incidentally, Matt has blogged that he should be back a month or two sooner than the 6 months that was predicted, as he is healing way faster than expected.

I had thought by now that we would see the flood of signings starting to flow. Maybe Dai's contract extension announcement is the start of it.

They'll usually save good news for after a loss. A win may see one announcement.

Let's hope for hardly any news for the rest of the season then! ;)

The article in the Mail saying Sam may have to retire is not a good sign. Here's hoping it is just speculative, cannot help wonder if they have received a little more information though.

Also read the article in the Mail. On the assumption that it is true then it is not good news.
The injury appears to have been far more serious than I previously thought!
My best wishes go to Sam and hope that he can overcome the tragedy - he was developing into an excellent player.

Rugby Pass also have an article;
https://www.rugbypass.com/news/wasps-flanker-advised-retire-17-months-horror-judo-injury-reports/
Not official, but seems more than speculation because it states he has been advised not to play rugby.
Best wishes to him.
