The URC schedule only has 18 rounds, so plenty of free weekends.

Appears that Munster can register new players.

I guess the challenge now will be to find players who are good enough to play at that level, but not so good enough to be already registered with another club, and actually able to join up with and train with them.

In Munster's case that will be Leinster (as instructed by IRFU).

Interesting to look at this article in yesterday’s Limerick Post. There are some big game players in their team pick.

https://www.limerickpost.ie/2021/12/01/the-potential-munster-team-to-line-out-for-their-champions-cup-opener-against-wasps/

Apologies if it’s already out of date!

You're quite right.
We'll be going in with 1st/2nd year Academy players that weren't selected for the SA tour and maybe a few AIL standard players... (maybe)

No chance of getting players from the other 3 provinces

We might also be boosted by the return of Chris Farrell and Roman Salanoa who are already registered but have been long term injury's so maybe not the right time to throw them straight in?

Daniel Okeke will definitely be wearing the no.8 jersey from what I've been hearing.
Himself, kendallen & O'Sullivan are our main back row prospects for the Future.. thought he'd be coming through in the next 2-3 years but sh$t happens.

We'll be huge underdog's
Still can't wait to go over and fly the flag.
Just have to remember to book in the pcr test :)

I wouldn't say huge underdogs. What South Africa has done for your squad, injuries have done to ours.

I am looking forward to this one.

Hopefully you're right
I just want it to be competetive yeah know

There was just a converted try between yourselfs winning Exeter last year (as you already know) :)

And COVID fecked your selection up big time!

Scarlets putting pressure on EPCR -

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/59491716

In that piece there's something I hadn't seen reported before:

"Tournament organisers have confirmed a registration extension to Wednesday 8 December, meaning clubs can now look to bring extra players in on loan!

So with the resources available to the Irish teams (I watched a Munster match on  S4C earlier this season and it was said that Munster had over 60 players on their books), they should easily be able to register more of their players.

Glad the game can go ahead.

But can't help but wonder whether these changes might have been allowed/rules relaxed if it was a team other than Munster isolated somewhere.

If it had been just Wasps or similar team no latitude would be given.

The latitude given prevents the tournament becoming a complete farse again though, and those teams got caught up in something they had no control over. It still leaves those teams weakened significantly, and not ideal. The host clubs get to put a game on and the TV get to show it.
