This stinks.

Poite was like one of those refs that turns up for a club game and tells the touch judges he's not interested in their opinions, just tell him when the ball goes out of play and he'll make all the decisions, thank you very much.

His error in Brad's case, which might have been acceptable if it had just been a one-off bad decision, was then compounded by a disciplinary hearing that didn't appear to have seen the same incident as the rest of the rugby world because they gave it a mid range punishment, thus confirming that Poite had made the right decision.

That the appeals committee overturned both those decisions so completely looks like they were quite contemptuous of the original decision and disciplinary hearing.

Rugby deserves better than this fiasco and Poite shouldn't be allowed to ref another match at this level. Its a shame because he used to be quite a good ref but something has gone seriously wrong.

I wonder how many other Wasps players have been sent off twice with a single red card....

Good news. But the damage is done. Ifs buts and maybe’s. But he stays on - it’s entirely possible we win. Toulouse game cancelled and all of a sudden we could be near the top of our league. It’s then knockout rugby and anything can happen. But one mans incompetence and ego has cost us the possible chance. It would be easier to swallow if the red card was his only mistake but it wasn’t. It was just so bad.

Shambolic process, but finally the right decision.

Watching the Dragons v Lyon match on S4C this evening there was a very similar incident and the ref (CM-K) immediately said it was a penalty only.

He’s come a long way since we were all having this exact same conversation about him wrongly sending off Nathan Hughes many moons ago, him getting a three match ban by the citing panel and then an appeal getting it all overturned.
Funny how things go, CMK is definitely in line for the international circuit soon, no longer dread seeing his name down to ref us, would actually welcome it more now.

Thank goodness that justice has been done for Brad.  If anything at all it was only worth a penalty.  What a shame for Wasps that Prat's 'decision had such a huge and unfair  impact on the game.

I still thinks he lacks feeling for the game, but there's lots worse than him.

Are the names of those on the disciplinary and appeals panels published? It seems rather bizarre that one sided with the referee and their decision was overturned on appeal.
Bring back Buster White on these discussions. I don't think he ever had a yellow or red card and knew how to play the game properly.  >:(

Well the chairman of the Appeal Panel was The Right Hon Lord Dingemans - it simply doesn’t get any better than James.

He still a relatively young man, so he’s still got a brain - but most importantly, he’s a man of integrity AND he has played the game himself.
