Why Hougaard is picked on the Wing

If it were me, with a choice of Kibirige, Watson or Hougaard on the right wing, I too would pick Hougaard.

Those choices that Wasps have are quite poor though.

Not related to that discussion, I don't see Odogwu as a winger even when fit, I see him as a 13.

Hougaard made a terrific try saving tackle on (a very surprised) Jonny May in the Glos game.

We’ve not seen him in any room out there yet so we don’t know if he’s got the pace when the hammer is put down. Kibirige seems to have lost form since he was sparked out at Sale - although his defence is always good as well. The main reason I wouldn’t be selecting Hougaard on the wing is that I’d now be picking him at 9. The lack of variation from both Wolstenholme and Porter is making us very easy to defend against at the moment.

It’s nice to hear how even in his twilight years he’s enthusiastic to be a part of it, so much so that he’s in the Head Coach’s ear telling him that if he’s not going to be picked at 9 that he’s happy to play on the Wing.
