Slade took his game to the next level with out Farrell around last time. Our backs were brought into the game more and had far more time. His passing game created tries in a way Farrell never could.
If Atkinson doesn’t start at 12 then Slade should as another option at 13 like Marchant probably gives us more than Atkinson offers at 12

I get the theory that sometimes a player is so naturally talented that they can just play and it doesn't matter where.
I believe that is why England football team under delivered for so long when they shoe horned Lampard and Gerard into the team.

Both exceptionally gifted players but so similar in what they did for their clubs that it compromised the international team. Either had to be one or the other, but not both.

I was mightily relieved that Odogwu wasn’t named in the squad, but the news of Farrell being out has left me dreaming of a Smith-Slade-Odogwu combination……

As things stand it feels like Slade is only going to play in three games, as he’ll be unavailable to play in France or Italy.

It’s probably worth thinking about what England should do with selection now if it’s likely that France won’t change their vaccine rules for the World Cup.

Baxter came out in the week saying Slade was vaccinated and would be available.
Knew that match fee was worth getting jabbed for

So he's happy to quote his Facebook toilet research in the press and on his social media sites but when push comes to shove money wise he folds like a cheap suit. Interesting.

Quite. I hope Nick gets a game and shows Jones was v wrong on that 2018 SA Tour and if we are going for a 6-2 split, Daly on the bench at least provides proper cover, unlike Furbank.....And if May is out - that surely means Malins to start....again the obvious!

I would go with either Malins of OHC whether May is fit or not. From what I've seen and heard he appears to have lost his edge and I don't think hoping he'll get his form back in the crucial 1st game of the 6N is worth the risk. Both those players are in form and worth that risk.

I see that May is out, knee injury. I wonder if he's been carrying a niggle for a while and that's why he's been off form?
