Back Row for Briz?
« on: February 23, 2022, 11:13:47 AM »
I'm assuming that neither Brad nor Thomas nor possibly Fifita will be fit for Friday, though Lee thinks he might make it.

AFAIK Nemo, Morris and Jamma are fit. Will we possibly see a starting back row of a brace of Willis and Alfie? Maybe a game too soon for Jack to start and who wears which shirt? Without Fifita we are missing a third jumper. What permutations do others think and who have I forgotten entirely🤣

I'm assuming that Elliot and Launch will start in the 2nd row.

J Willis on bench for me. I’d go Barbeary 6, Carr 7 and T Willis 8. I’d start Launchbury with either Gaskell and Stooke with the non starter being on the bench. As a footnote I think it’s really hard on Cardall who I think is a fantastic second row.

Agreed. But someone has to be and for me Carr gives a bit more than him.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Gaskell at 6 as an additional line out option, with JW and Carr on the bench.

Actually, neither would I. Need more than just 2 jumpers these days.

He's not, but our back row didn't function at all well at the weekend and we were schooled at the breakdown. If we're going to have Alfie and Tom, we need Jack or Nemo.

+1. Three first choice jumpers puts huge pressure on the opposition hooker and line out.

I personally would like to see both the Willis brothers and Alfie with Fifita on the bench. Morris is a good squad player that never does anything wrong but I think we need our best to win this Friday, our back row wasn't great last week and got smashed a bit.

7 is a problem without Jack because Youngs is injured, we than drop a level without them. This is a must win game and for me the back row will play a major roll in it.

Gaskell, T Willis, J Willis.

Controversially, I’d start Alfie at Hooker.

Carr on the bench, ideally on for Jack after 30 mins.
