8th place.
« on: April 02, 2022, 06:21:40 PM »
IMHO it is now between us and Irish for the last Champions cup qualifying spot for next season. Looking at the run in we see the following:

Wasps:                                     London Irish:
                                               H v Harlequins
H v Worcester                           A v Newcastle
A v Irish                                  H v Wasps
H v Sale                                   A v Bath
A v Leicester                             Season complete.

Hopefully Quins will do us a favour, but looking at the run in I think Irish have the marginally easier fixtures, yet equally we will know exactly what is needed for the last round as that is Irish's second bye week. What is clear is that the game between the 2 of us will be hugely important as the Champions cup is where we both need to be! This will be a game where we need to get as many of us Waspies to the Brentford community stadium as possible!

Can’t wait

Don't we have a game in hand versus Sale?

Sale worry me. I know last nights game against Sarries was not pretty, but what it did have was a sense of test match intensity and physicality about it. They will be formidable, and I suspect it will be attritional in our game against them.

As soon as we start predicting unexpected results crop up. I think top 8 is wide open. The top 4, I think will remain but the next 5 could be absolutely anything.

Four team are competing for 6th to 8th (3 places):

Gloucester currently 55 - max possible 80
London Irish currently 53 - max possible 73
Wasps currently 52 - max possible 72
Sale currently 56 - max possible 71

As Wasps are playing both Sale and Irish, beating them both puts us with a chance of 7th. If Gloucester mess up two more games ...

All to play for.

I never feel comfortable about us beating Sale.

One week, we have Worcester, they have Newcastle.
If today's result between those 2 teams is anything to go by, I'd be happier with our fixture.

The fixtures quins and Leicester are losses on paper

So it all comes down to the head to head game.

Quite frankly, that's the way most teams would want it

Show the grit and determination that we showed today and we will win at least 3 of those games. Top 8 is very achievable. If other results go our way, then even top 6 might happen.

Loads of factors still in play. When we play Leicester they will have qualified for a home semi - who knows what side they’ll put out.

A good side, you know they will. Pride in a local derby.

Danny Care gets yet another yellow, his 5th this year? Certainly his fourth in a row. Don't you get a citation for that sort of record?
