New to this board but something is niggling me, what is going on with Ambrose Curtis? He seems to be marginalised....

Welcome to the forum!

I agree very much with your concerns.  There is clearly something not quite right there.  He was touted as a good signing, had a welcome to Wasps video unlike some others, and yet we've seen almost nothing of him.

The brief cameo he did have didn't seem to show anything signifcantly wrong, but you have to wonder...

It is bewildering, he is occupying a salary and not getting any game time, even at domestic cup level? He is prolific on social media/instagram, where he is active in training at Broad Street but also seems to be touring the UK catching up with old friends. How will he ever assimilate into the playing style of the team if he doesn't start playing, even as a last 10-20 finisher? I don't get it? Must be something wrong?

Yes, seems odd doesn't it. Has Ross just out performed him in training? He is 26 which put to bed my theory about conditioning to some extent. Saying that, we didn't see Matt Kvesic much last year after his move to Exeter, but this year he is on fire.

I think he played VS Coventry in August when our A Team played them, and once in the Prem Cup (the first of the 3 games maybe)? He looked OK.

No mention of him by Dai, and Bobby Bridge has not asked Dai about him. I will ask Bobby Bridges if he has heard anything.

I don't really get the confusion. He was playing on a game by game/as needed basis in the Mitre 10 cup. The Mitre 10 is the equivalent of the championship really (alright, maybe the better teams in the championship), and that's the level he wasn't able to secure a permanent contract at.

I'd have expected to see him in some A league games, but so far I believe academy players have been filling those spots, which is far better in my mind.

It's more the fact that he was touted as a good signing having been a NZ Maori, and we'd rather sign a centre and play him on the wing than the winger we already have.

I'm scratching my head on this one because in the one game where he started he looks keen as mustard... a lot better than sick note Watson.

The only thing I can think of is a contractual issue?

But why would you relocate yourself to the other side of the world if you hadn't dotted the t's and crossed the i's.

He did look very quiet and reserved in his welcome to wasps vid so perhaps he hasn't impressed the coaches in training?

That was kind of my point, there appears to be no substance or insight shared to support his exclusion, not even a whisper. Agree  ref: Watson, he has thoroughly underwhelmed and 'appears' to be injured most of the time, not Premiership standard by any stretch of my limited imagination.

Marcus Watson was premiership standard at Newcastle.
He also almost single handedly beat us on one occasion that I can remember.

However, for us, it hasn't worked out for him.

That's fine. It happens sometimes.
He may go to another club and look a different person.
That's often what finding rough gems is all about

Wadey's sport switch has caused a problem with Watson's lack of form / fitness.
Hopefully though Ross Neal continues to be a good option for us

The Watson brothers must have frail bodies.. didn't Anthony rupture his achilles doing a NFL photo shoot?

Still a mystery, not in A Team squad today, Watson and Gaby are? He must be very poor is all I can fathom, saw him suited up at the Bath game and seemed happy enough, still don’t get it?

He's spent most of his career in 7's hasn't he? Could it be a case that he is bulking up to come into contention next year?

I guess, but Gaby spent a long period in 7s, Joe Simpson was part of the Olympic squad before getting injured, lots of our players have also played 7s and manage ok in the bigger game.  It's a mystery alright...
