Wonder how his fitness will hold up in 7s?

In Racing 7s squad.

Good for him.
He keeps putting himself out there to be tested.
We now having a better understanding of Wasps financial position, so I imagine the club weren't in a position to offer him a good contract recently when the opportunity arose. And that's fair enough.

But if anyone finds a TV link...I would be fascinated to see how he this ex-Wasp fares again on a rugby pitch.
Really fascinated.

And for all you sourpusses out there...once a Wasp, always a Wasp.

This is what Alex Grey went to play in last time, got injured and not signed by Racing and then lost his trial with us.

A little risky for Wade but maybe being used as a trial for him.

I'd assume his NFL fitness training focused on explosiveness and recovery.

The recovery aspect is likely to be key in 7s, so I'd like to think that he'll handle it well

The recovery aspect in NFL is the gap between plays, the subbing in and out & the change over from offence to defence. Actual running etc is only in very short 30 sec to a minute bursts, and no tackling etc. I am not sure how that will translate into 7 minutes of almost constant movement. I mean the 7s specific players are ridiculously fit specimens.
Additionally given he's not played any NFL for over a year (I think) and no rugby for 4 years he is going to be very rusty!

Good luck to him though, hope it works out for him.

Fair comment.
I was assuming the recovery required between NFL plays would be akin to phases in 7s.

I totally agree that each phase in 7s will be longer than each NFL play though.

And yeah, the lay off from any professional training isn't gonna help

+1

And please remember NFL is engineered for short bursts of outstanding behaviour.
But that doesn’t mean the guys aren’t insanely fit and capable of adapting to other conditions.

To be part of the NFL = Uber Uber levels of fitness, reactions and conditioning.

Super.
Really hope it works out for him, although really hoping he does not get a late offer from a prem club, because seeing him for someone else would really irk.

Lost in the semi final to Monaco (there's a sentence I didn't think I was going to write today!).
