Travelling - Henley on Thames to CBS
« on: August 20, 2022, 10:31:19 AM »
I'm going to be at a campsite in Henley on Thames on 7 and 8 Oct and we play Saints at the CBS on the 9th so I'm considering staying on and using it as a base to go to the game.

I see that is possible to do the journey by train  and it takes a couple of hours. Is it a reasonable journey and is there any other way of getting there eg coach?

Depends on whether  they're on strike.

BiND,
I believe Heathen sometimes goes by train from High Wycombe to CBS. Maybe PM him?

From HoT best train option is to go HoT-Twyford-Reading-Coventry.

Is this from Hurley Riverside Park? (I'm sure there's others near HoT)

My wife booked it and she didn't say which one, she did say it was walking distance in to HoT so I presume its Swiss Farm or Four Oaks.

She's guest artist* at an exhibition in Cookham and I've been dragged along to drive the van and empty the chemical toilet, so haven't taken much interest in where.

*It sounds more grandiose than it is. Two of her art friends from when we live near HW are organising it.

No problems, was only asking as if it was Hurley then it's probably equidistant from Henley as it is Maidenhead and the latter might be an easier journey on the train as then it's Maidenhead > Reading > Coventry rather than faffing around going Henley > Twyford > Reading with 15-20 mins of standing around for about 10 mins on the train.

If you happen to be a coffee snob, the best caffeine-fix in Henley is Daisy Love (don't be put off by the name - the same owner owns Chin Chin the wine/charcuterie place next door also a place of the same name in Cookham owned by the same people).  Just out of town you've also got Velolife (10 min drive) - A stop-off point for Cyclists in an old converted pub that does great Coffee and the best toasties you'll have had.

Thanks for the advice. I'm not a coffee snob, but I do like a good coffee so I'll certainly give Daisy Life a go and maybe get out to the other one.
