Wow - sad news. I was unaware of any illness so assume it was unexpected?

Gutted. Universally loved in these parts, not always for the rugby commentary, but for just being Eddie. Great man.

Seeing the headline on my phone for this thread gave me quite a shock.

A true professional in everything he did, the rugby world is going to miss one of its rare legends in his on lifetime.

Rugby on the BBC won’t be quite the same. Great shame. RIP Eddie.

If there's a better producer and narrator of sport montages and films I've yet to watch any of their work.

RIP

Assumed altitude sickness - the Andes are a very significant mountain range.

An iconic voice. A true gentleman, and the perfect foil to Brian Moore in commentary.

Will be missed. Thoughts to the family.

Very sad news. I must admit I didn't realise the Inca Trail was at such altitude.
