These players mentioned all fell to the mentality of the worthies of Home Nations rugby who appoint large caching teams headed by alpha male control freaks who think the best rugby is played by their rules, and not by the players on the pitch, who as a consequence pick players who show little initiative and do what they are told. Might as well be a team of robots. Accountability (to get results at all costs) and too much pay/budget is to blame.

It stems from the way many school rugby teachers coach (fortunately, I was coached by the late Roger Johnston, whom many of you will have met of known, and who believed the role of the coach was to enable), and through to the way the county structure worked/works. Most top three nations teams have a coaching setup that works much the same. Lately, as did Wasps.

Funnily enough, many nations do not 'coach' this way. France for one. Many PI nations ...
