New species of Wasp!
« on: December 30, 2022, 04:21:15 PM »
From today's Times:

Scientists discovered 85 new kinds of wasp this year, along with 84 new beetles and 6 species of frogs smaller than a 1p coin. There was even a 35 million-year-old insect trapped in Ukrainian amber and 11 new varieties of algae...

This did not surprise Dr Gavin Broad, principal curator in charge of insects at the Natural History Museum, who said that the order Hymenoptera was the most species-rich in nature. “It’s just a surprise that wasps don’t come top every year,” he said. “Watch out for lots more wasps next year!”

I think we can add one more new species to that, can't we?
