Christian Update on NFL.

Bobby Bridge in the Coventry Telegraph:

Doesn't sound terribly happy or confident. The whole thing is very sad and I don't think it will end well for him:(

Sadly, I have to agree. That program he is on is, by all accounts you read online, quite brutal in cutting players ... and then what? Will we have recruited, or decided not to recruit to replace him but stick with Neal? Will we have spent the money elsewhere in the squad? My guess is, there would not be space for him here, even if he wanted to return, and IF Dai would have him back after all that has happened. Very sad.

I think the reality has probably hit home regarding the enormity of the task ahead of him. He's going up against athletes that will be just as quick, powerful, fleet of foot, but may have been playing the game since they were 12 or 13.

I hope he has some fallback options. Perhaps he should tap up Corbisiero to see if he could get any TV work at NBC or maybe sign up to one of the pro rugby teams in USA if all else fails.

I hope the reality of how hard it is going to be isn't a surprise to him!

IMO I don't think he'll make it, but he hasn't failed yet.

Sadly I'll be surprised if he makes it.  I think it would take a very brave team to take him on and there probably isn't one out there brave enough.

Don't know if that's disillusioned, or simply truthful. He seems fully aware that it's not going to be easy, and happy to state that. Honesty hardly seems like disillusion, nor fooling himself as to how hard it will be.

Got to wish him luck though. I know people felt let down by him, but he gave us so much magic, and you could see why he wanted out.

I thought he sounded realistic. I hope he knows that there are always options if it doesn't work out.

I don't feel let down by the guy, always a pleasure to meet, last time away at an A game at Glaws. I do miss the electricity that pulsed when he got his hands on the ball and I do blame England for not even seeing if the England top try scorer might have an England future

Whilst I do wish him all the best, I do feel his timing was terrible. If he wanted to leave he should have done so before the end of last season thus giving the fans a chance to say goodbye & thank you & for the club to sort out a replacement.

None of that affects my conviction that he won't make it in the NFL.

I completely agree, NFL is fiercely competitive and the odds of making it as an outsider are very low. Ultimately I too fear it will all be in vain, I do wish him the best though.
